Full Suspension E-Bikes
Full Suspension E-Bikes
A full suspension e-bike uses a front fork plus a rear shock to keep both wheels planted on rough ground: more traction, more control, less beating for your back. Our lineup: Marsant’s X P5 1000W Full Suspension E-Bike ($1,299, up to 1,000W peak, 960Wh Samsung battery, 80+ mile range, 400 lb payload) and Marsant’s X P6 1000W Peak Full Suspension E-Bike ($1,299, bench saddle, moped styling, 330 lb payload). Both with hydraulic disc brakes and torque sensors.

What Full Suspension Actually Does
It keeps tires on the ground. On rough surfaces, a rigid bike bounces; airborne tires have no traction and no braking. A front fork absorbs the first hit; a rear shock keeps the back wheel tracking instead of skipping. The result: you go faster with less effort and less pain, because the bike isn’t fighting you.
This matters beyond mountain biking. Rough city streets, gravel paths, and loaded cargo runs all benefit. If your riding surface is imperfect, suspension pays for itself in comfort alone.
The Two Models
Marsant’s X P5 ($1,299): up to 1,000W peak motor with 100 Nm, 48V 20Ah Samsung battery (960Wh), coil front fork with lockout plus 30mm rear shock with adjustable damping, TEKTRO hydraulic disc brakes, torque sensor for natural pedal feel, 28 mph, 80+ mile range, 400 lb payload. The spec sheet reads like bikes costing far more.
Marsant’s X P6 ($1,299): 750W rated motor (1,000W peak, 85 Nm), 48V 20.4Ah Samsung battery, moped-inspired design with a bench saddle, full suspension, 28 mph, 80+ mile range, 330 lb payload. Pick it for the bench saddle and head-turning style.
The choice: P5 for maximum payload and torque-sensor refinement; P6 for style and the bench seat.
Suspension Terms, Translated
Coil fork with lockout: a spring fork you can stiffen for smooth pavement, so it doesn’t bob while pedaling. The P5 has one.
Adjustable damping: controls how fast the shock rebounds after a hit. The P5’s rear shock offers it; set it once for your weight and forget it.
Torque sensor: measures how hard you pedal and matches motor output smoothly, unlike cadence sensors that feel on/off. Both models include one; it is the single biggest ride-quality upgrade on an e-bike.
TEKTRO hydraulic discs: real stopping power for 90 lb bikes at 28 mph. Non-negotiable at these speeds and weights.
Who Needs Full Suspension (and Who Doesn’t)
You need it if you ride rough streets, gravel, trails, or carry loads over imperfect surfaces. Your back will thank you within a week.
You don’t need it if 100% of your riding is smooth pavement and you prioritize light weight. Suspension adds pounds and cost; on glass-smooth bike paths, a rigid fork is fine.
What to Check Before You Buy
Sag setup. Set suspension sag (how much it compresses under your weight) when the bike arrives. Most riders never do this and leave performance on the table.
Weight. Both models run ~88 to 92 lb. Plan transport and storage accordingly.
Payload. 400 lb (P5) and 330 lb (P6) cover most rider-plus-cargo combinations, but verify against your actual total.
Service. Suspension pivots and seals need periodic attention. Budget a yearly check at a bike shop.
Full Suspension E-Bike FAQs
Is full suspension worth it on an e-bike?
For rough surfaces, absolutely. It improves traction, braking, comfort, and control. On perfectly smooth pavement, it adds weight for little benefit.
What is the difference between the P5 and P6?
The P5 offers more torque (100 Nm), a torque sensor, TEKTRO brakes, and 400 lb payload. The P6 offers moped styling with a bench saddle and 330 lb payload. Same price, different priorities.
How much maintenance does suspension need?
Annual pivot and seal checks at a bike shop, plus keeping stanchions clean. Coil systems are lower-maintenance than air.
Can I lock out the suspension for road riding?
The P5’s front fork has a lockout for efficient pavement pedaling. Use it on smooth roads, open it on rough ones.
Are these good for heavy riders?
Yes. The 400 lb (P5) and 330 lb (P6) payload ratings accommodate heavier riders plus gear, and the suspension is the right tool for the job.
Do full suspension e-bikes climb well?
With a torque sensor and 85 to 100 Nm on tap, both climb strongly. Lock the fork on smooth climbs to reduce bobbing.
